V ^4 ! The Belles Volume XLV Number 5 9M HILLSBOROUGH SIREET, ST. MARY^ COLLEGE. RALEIGH. {4.C. Of Saint Mary’s College May 1,1986 Frannye Fowle MAY QUEEN: FRANNYE FOWLE by Shannon Taylor Co-Editor St. Mary’s has various big events during it’s school year but one of the most entertaining for students, faculty, parents, friends, and visitors is the Spring Festival. There is a pre sentation of the court followed by various dance routines choreographed by the students and Sue Brown. There is always a frenzy to get everything ready for this big event. Also, some how every year it rains off and on the whole week of the Spring Festival. The morning of the event is always cloudy but by some miracle it is hot and sun ny by three o’clock, just in time for the court presentation. Our Spring Queen this year was Sadie Francis Fowle, who is known to her family and friends as "Frannye." Frannye is a two year girl from Washington, North Carolina. She is very in volved with the St. Mary’s com munity in every aspect. She is a member of two clubs: Scoop and Circle. She is a Cold Cut, Vestry Senior Warden, a Counselor on First East Cruikshank, and the Senior class Secretary. She also works in the St. Mary’s Bookstore during her spare time. When you see Frannye around the campus she always has a bright the Hall cheery smile for you or a note of encouragement for the needy and always she helps prormte school spirit. She is undecided, as of now, whether she will continue her education at North Carolina State University or UNC-Chapel Hill. She has, however, definitely decided to major in Speech Communica tions or Public Relations. “And maybe someday,” Frannye added, “I will return to St. Mary’s." Frannye is definitely the much acclaimed “Typical St. Mary’s Girl.” She is in volved, energetic, outgoing, and always thinks of ways to stay at St. Mary’s a little bit longer (in Smedes of course!)
